APAC’s mission is saving dogs from local Shelters. This helps the community by relieving overcrowding in the local shelters and gives great dogs a second chance at a wonderful life. Owner surrender dogs are not our focus and take open spots away from the dogs we work so save on a daily basis.
We have made the decision that as a rule, we will no longer take owner surrenders, but will make rare exceptions and this must be voted on by our surrender committee. Examples of these are:
Dogs previously adopted through APAC
Humanitarian effort - pet parent passed, etc.
The following conditions must be met in order for a dog to be surrendered to APAC:
You must be the lawful owner of the dog
An APAC foster must be available to care for the dog
Application for surrender must be submitted and approved by the review board
Vet records and microchip information must be submitted with the application
A surrender fee of $50 or more must be paid depending on required vetting
